Ingredients

  • pork and beef mince – 500 g
  • cooked rice – ½ glasses
  • onion – 1 – 2 pcs
  • carrot – 1 – 2 pcs
  • cabbage – 300 g
  • egg – 1 pc
  • salt – ½ tsp
  • pepper – ¼ tsp
  • For the dressing:
  • onion – 1 pc
  • carrot – 1 pc
  • tomato purée – 3 tbsp
  • water – 300 ml
  • sugar – 1 tsp
  • ground coriander – ¼ tsp
  • sunflower oil – 50 ml

Method

  1. Step 1

Actually, the set of ingredients for lazy cabbage rolls is not too different from those for regular cabbage rolls. Therefore, they taste just as tasty and satisfying, and my children love these cabbage rolls much more than regular ones.

  2. Step 2

Boil the rice until cooked, rinse and let all the liquid drain. Meanwhile, fry the onions and carrots in vegetable oil until soft - they should not fry, just become soft, i.e. sautéing. Cut the onion into small cubes, and grate the carrots on a regular grater.

  3. Step 3

Finely chop the cabbage or you can use a cabbage grater. Lower the pan a little – the cabbage becomes translucent and soft. No need to fry!

  4. Step 4

Cool the vegetables and combine with minced meat and rice. Add salt, ground pepper to taste and 1 egg. Mix well and form oblong cutlets.

  5. Step 5

Take a deep baking tray and place the formed lazy cabbage rolls on it. There is no need to lubricate the surface, because... We will pour sauce on top. For a creamy taste, you can add a piece of butter on top.

  6. Step 6

Prepare the sauce. Cut the onion into cubes and fry in vegetable oil until light golden brown. Add carrots to it and fry until done. Dilute the tomato paste with warm water and add salt, sugar and your favorite spices. I add ground coriander and black pepper. Pour tomato sauce into the vegetables, bring to a boil and pour over the lazy cabbage rolls. I try to spoon the dressing onto each “cutlet” with a tablespoon.

  7. Step 7

Place the baking tray in an oven preheated to 180°C for 30-40 minutes, watching your oven to make sure it doesn’t burn.
